Rob Whewell, Independent Financial Adviser, Burnley

Abacus Associates

I am a fully Independent Financial Adviser at Abacus Associates based in Burnley, Lancashire, with over 10 years’ experience of delivering professional advice to both personal and corporate clients.

I provide jargon-free financial advice focusing on building and protecting the wealth and financial health of my clients. My independent status means I can offer advice on all aspects of financial planning using products from across the whole market.

My key areas of expertise include investment and wealth management, pension and retirement planning, lifetime and later life planning, wills, power of attorney and both personal and business protection. I put my clients at the heart of everything I do ensuring that I operate with the highest level of integrity and transparency.

In providing a bespoke recommendation and through an excellent ongoing service, I am committed to a successful long-term relationship with my clients, guiding them through the many different lifetime events that most all of us experience, some inevitable, and others unexpected, and helping them achieve their aspirations and goals.

I’m a dad to two young children, Louie and Chloe and recently married my longer-term partner, Laura. Much of my spare time is spent with my family, however I also love sport and in particular football! In addition to that I’m a trustee for a local charity called Furniture for Education Worldwide and have travelled to various countries across Africa and Asia helping some of the poorest schools with equipment and infrastructure. We’ve provided school playgrounds in Gambia, built classrooms in Tanzania, to help clearing landmines in Cambodia, all of which is challenging but thoroughly enjoyable. I take the same ethos to my work as I do my own friends and family, work hard, treat everyone with the upmost respect and success will follow.

An Integrated Approach to Financial Services

Our Independent Financial Advice process:

Pensions, trusts, equity release, wills, inheritance & estate planning.

My specific areas of expertise:

Investment & wealth management

Creating, growing, and then maintaining wealth is key to successful financial planning and should be part of a longer-term investment strategy.

Personal protection

Talking about illness, disability or death is never an easy conversation to have but protecting against the unexpected will help with financial security and ensure your family can cope should the worst happen.

Lifetime financial planning

If you have a Defined Benefit or Final Salary pension scheme, there may be individual circumstances where a pension transfer could be advantageous.

Later life & estate planning

We spend a lifetime building our wealth, so it’s important to find the most effective way to protect your assets, in order for you to pass them on to those you love as efficiently as possible.

Pensions & retirement planning

When you think about the future, what does your retirement look like to you? An important question which we can help you answer.

Wills & power of attorney

Making a Will is essential to ensuring that your wealth benefits those whom you choose and is not taken by taxation, unnecessary legal costs and beneficiaries chosen by the law.
